Even though the sales of the Dodge Viper have dwindled in recent years, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles has released the first sales numbers for 2020. The automaker sold two Vipers in the third quarter, compared to one in the same time last year. But, can FCA still sell Vipers in 2020? Possibly. It’s still possible to find a dealer who still carries the car.

Many people are wondering how FCA can still sell the Viper, given that the car hasn’t been in production since 1992. Fiat Chrysler executives met monthly for future product plans. Much has been written about the long-running battle between FCA & Dodge over the production and sale of the Viper. FCA produced the Viper for 25 years in the Conner assembly facility, which was the smallest in North America. The Viper will not meet the new safety regulations, which will take effect Sept. 1. FCA has been celebrating Conner’s end of Viper production for a year. Workers were transferred from other FCA plants around the metro Detroit area but chose to stay due to the uniqueness of Conner.

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles continues to sell the Dodge Viper despite declining sales and declining demand. According to FCA’s Q3 2020 Sales Report, two Vipers were sold in the third quarter. Six more Vipers are expected to be sold in 2020. The Viper has been a popular supercar since its debut in 2008. In the last five years, FCA has sold more than 52,000 Vipers.

FCA US is looking for ways to improve its bottom line and has announced a $5.3Billion investment plan. The plan includes the creation of 2,959 new jobs in FCA US and the elimination of 2,856 from other facilities. The plan must be ratified by a majority of FCA employees before it can become a reality. Although there are people who prefer the Viper, the FCA US head for employee relations says that there is no reason why production should be halted.
